Verdict :
I have just lost a client. I bought hosting and their servers are not responding! Opened two support tickets. This is the second day and nobody has responded from their end! I THINK I HAVE BEEN CONNED! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A BIT MORE CAREFUL BEFORE COMMITTING CLIENT\\\'S MONEY on such a company!
I host one website on their free hosting package. Customer service is good coz the admins solve your problems quickly in the forums. Free package does not include php, mysql etc but for a simple website 50webs is very good.
A very polished web hosting site with plenty of options for both amateurs and medium level users. It is simply the best free webhosting site I have joined. There is not any noticeable downtime, the bandwidth allowance is generous, and it maintains a very high standard of technical support where a friendly atmosphere is the norm.
Having used 50 webs for a few weeks now i must say out of all the Free web hosting sites i've tried this has to be the best!
Instead of using a web builder on the site you can use programs like Dreamweaver to create your site which is good as you have freedom to do what you want.
Your are able to upload files using browser or ftp but can't go over 300kb file size limit but once site uploaded you get NO ads what so ever.
You also get POP3 email.
One of the good things about using 50webs are the video tutorials which show each diffrent section exactly how you'd see it and it also displays text at the same time to further help
If you need web hosting for personal use try 50webs free hosting. And i would even suggest uising there pay service for businesses.
I've been using 50webs free hosting services for about a 1year now, and so far, I have had no downtime, great service, fast replies about any questions I have had concerning my server, and the best part about it is no ads. So many other free servers make you have ugly banner ads on every page, messing up any frames you use. 50webs doesn't; that, along with a good amount of storage space and bandwitch, makes this my #1 choice for free and probably paid hosting. I would definatley say choose 50webs. you won't turn back.
I've seen a lot of web hosts in my hunt for perfection. Many of them claim to offer the most eyecatching features. But when it comes to performance they all fail where 50webs shines. This is an excellent service with unlimited bandwidth and No ads. I just love it. The 300 kb limit was a grudge though but I haven't had to make any file beyond even 150 kb! I rate it the best for simple HTML websites.
Hello. I am Shekhar and I have my webite currently hosted with 50Webs.com
Here's the deal.
Merits:
1. Free domain hosting (TLDs like mydomain.com, through DNS only)
2. Free subdomain hosting (like subdomain.50web.com)
3. No forced advertising.
4. Unlimited bandwidth (you read that correctly!).
5. Good storage quota - 60MB.
6. FTP access as well as HTTP upload.
7. POP3 email account.
8. Full control of website.
9. Unlimited subdomains (like subdomain.mydomain.com).
10. Unlimited virtual domains in single account.
11. No limit on the number of letters of subdomain.
12. Domains activated within an hour of registration.
13. Subdomains activated instantly.
14. Subdomain changing allowed.
15. Image hosting allowed.
16. Mp3 hosting allowed (as long as no copyrights are infringed)
17. Fairly fast Linux servers.
18. Good uptime.
19. Flash and JavaScript allowed.
Demerits:
1. Filesize limit - 300KB (enforced for all filetypes - even mp3s)
2. No support for server-side programming such as PHP, Perl (CGI directory), ASP, JSP, etc. (Planned for future).
3. No support for databases such as MySQL, Access databases, etc.
4. No online website builder (yet). (Planned for future).
5. Frontpage extensions not supported (who needs them anyway?).
6. No webmail service (yet).
7. No authenticated SMTP - cannot send mail, can only recieve it.
8. No hotlinking from external sites - only hyperlinking allowed.
9. No archive hosting allowed.
I'd say that as long as 50Webs sticks to the above, its the best host for static websites like my personal website.
I liked their package so much that I voluntarily put an big image link to 50Webs that occupies 120x60 pixels at the top left corner of every page on my site (in the hope that they wouldn't consider forcing ads on pages in future).
