Had been a customer with 818hoating for more than a year with good results until 818 decided to virtualize their server. For a period of time after that the service was spotty until last April 06 they went down. Called tech support was fed some BS about the server dying and haveing to go back to the factory. I do tech support for industrial server apps and recognised a billing dispute between 818/ 2checkout.com and their virtual host for what it is. Somebody didn't pay their bill and the users are getting the short end of it. Today 8-21-06 I received my recurring bill from them. I'll be calling Visa later today and denying them that small ripoff. They screwed me out of 5 months service, their not playing me any further.

I found their service a while back and saw a great deal for unlimited space and bandwidth. For the site I was creating for a client it was great.

I thought I could code on there since the page said I could use any of the following starter pages:

index.htm
index.html
index.asp

Of course the index.asp method didn't work. Active Server Pages wouldn't work on their site at all. Customer Service told me to redirect from an htm page to my index.asp page. Problem was my code was showing up, meaning ASP isn't supported. As I thought.

Problem two was when the site went down and I never got a response. You can go to their site now and find nothing works. I've called, sent emails and got nothing. I quickly terminated my service and let my contacts know that I switched hosts. Right now I use space offered by a coworker which is more reliable.

I cannot recommend which host he uses since he just bought a bunch of space and sells parts of it. I figure just do that for those looking for space. You can always do a google search. If it is too good to be true, then chances are it is.

These guys are the worst. There server went down 2 weeks ago they are not fixing the problem. It took them a 11 days to email me back to tell me there server went down. They said if I want my site to be back I would have to buy there other hosting on a different server. They still have no problems taken you money. Don't waste your time with these guys.

Customer Service team are very rude, Threatened to terminate my account and delete my website because i was having problems with my website, im not a pro, so i atleast expected a little help with some questions,

Pricing is ok, for unlimited bandwidth and space,

reliability is very poor, as their servers go up and down more times than a yoyo, and very hard to get a reply from them via email, it can take days - weeks even though they say they give 24/7 support.

As I am writing this my website is not working, and neither is 818.

The ever-going list of bads about this host:
FALSE ADVERTISMENT!!!
While they say "Unlimited" Bandwidth it is a LIE!
I was hosting a freeware game and it supposedly sucked too much "Unlimited" bandwidth that it "crashed" their server.I had gotton no email what-so-ever. My site just didnt work period. After I contacted their "24/7" support which is only on like from 9am to 3pm only sometimes with a staff of one member which is Patrick, I found out that they freezed my account for the "unlimited" bandwidth I used up which "crashed" their servers. They defended their False advertisment by saying its all in the TOS(Terms of Servment) which was no where to be found on their website. But W/E I removed the game and they let me use their hosting again.

One time around Novembver in 2005I asked about subdomains and said they world get them as of january 1st 2006. In february I asked again if they would ever get sub-domains and they said soon. :(. Now it seems that if I pay 2$ more i get just 2 subdomains. In their BS TOS it also apperantly seems that you can host anything that you did not create or any kind of files for other people.

Right now 818 and my website is down, probably they are trying to scam everyone again.

My advice is that you keep your website out of a lame-still-living-in-his-mothers-basment person that faslely advertises.

I have been a user of 818hosting for 2 years, I would not recomend it, though up to recently the service has been good and do get responces in 24 hours, the downside is that it has a habbit of crashing alot....

This is not good service, no matter what you pay you should get what you want from the way it is advertised.

Disgusted.

1. False advertising. He, Patrick Babaian, clearly advertise unlimited Hosting, but couldn't handle a site that didn't even accumulate 250GB/month. We were promptly deleted off his server for unintentionally crashing it. ???.

2. No warning, not email stating there might be a problem. Nothing, just a site that no longer exists. Our clients are well known and are not very happy.

3.As we can understand he wouldn't want to host a site that crashes his server (the accurateness of this statement is questionable however) we respectfully requested a refund of the remaining months of the yearly term we purchased. He has rejected refunding us.

We have never encountered this level of crooked unprofessionalism from a hosting service before.

I will Agree with the last post Their customer support is the worst I have ever seen. 6 Days now I have been wait for them to get back to me about canceling my Account I have sent 3 e-mails and a number of phone calls with only voice mail. I ended up having to contact 2Checkout.com who handles there funds transfer and my credit card company about this.

From The first day there support was bad,no call backs and very rude over the phone. Not sure what is going on there but someone shouldn't be there with this attitude. As of today still no reply and I call them 3 more times today. I wouldn't sujest going with them or any one of there companies with service like this.

I have been with this company for a little over a year now, they are truly amazing. I didn't beleive the unlimited hosting thing until I actually tried it. There live support is always online to assist and they have an 800 line for after hours support. I would highly recommend this company.

TERRIBLE! Their customer support is the worst I have ever seen. They are rude and will actually sign off on you! They have no cpanel, no nothing. They have to do everything for you which takes atleast a day or two. But thats not even the worst part about it - they're server uptime is probably 60% because atleast twice a month there is hardware failure and the other times its database is down and being repaired or their some sort of maintenance. This is the worst host I have ever come across, do not sign up for this host!
