My experience, so far with my current host is great. I've been with them for almost 10 months and definitely will not going anywhere soon.
Back in March 2004, I was looking for my first webhost ever to host a small personal website. I found amxhost.com/ Their price is quite cheap and I thought this could be some kind of jokes ect. because I was reading in Webhostingtalk (nick is TieuDieuTu) and found out there were, sill are, and probably will be more, too many nightmares regarding webhosting world. Back then, I don't have a lot of money to spare (anything over 10 USD/month is considered extremly expensive). Since I only wanted to host a small personal website, it doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money.
After carefully reading through amxhost.com and contemplating the way the owner, Matt, responds to questions and some rude customers, and how he handles support, I decided to give it a try. I picked the cheapest price of the time, 2.99 USD/month and test it out.
To my surprise, everything went smooth. In this particluar instance, the very popular pharse in the hosting industry: "you get what you paid for" is not very correct. It's more of I get much more than the price I got paid.
I've got to be honest about one thing, and that's the chat support via AIM. I've never use it, nor chat directly to Matt so I don't have an idea how that department goes. The reason, or explanation, for this is because for the last 10 months or so, I never had the need to use it. Anything I want, I did it in my webhost forum via Private Messaging.
Even with the PM, I only need twice. The first one was some glitch in my account which Matt handled it right away. The second time was asking him how to upgrade my account to the next one up (5.55 USD/month for 1.5 Gb disk space and 15 Gb bandwidth) and everything was smooth.
All I can say is, for the last 10 months, I am very happy with what I pay monthly, and the level of service and support that I got. |
