Verdict :
When I joined 12 months ago it was the greatest. Since then it deteriorated month by month till it shut down in November 2006.
Its servers shut down due to lack of financial & human resources.
A sad loss.
BUILDTOLEARN HAS CEASED DOING BUSINESS. THEIR DNS SERVERS HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN
THE FREE WEBHOSTING SERVICE, WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FOR NOVICE WEBMASTER TO LEARN, STOPED PROVIDING HOSTING SERVCIES WITHOUT SENDING OUT A WARNING EMAIL ADDRESSES OF THE WEBMASTERS HOASTING THEIR DOMAINS ON TGHI SERVICE.
WHEN THE SERVICE WAS UP, IT WAS FINE, BUT WHEN THERE WAS ANY TECHNICAL PROBELM WITH THE SERVERS, THE SITE PROVIDED A TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE OF HOW TO NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CUSTOMERS. BASED ON THE RESPONSE TIMES TO RESTORE FAILLED SERVERS, THIS ORGANIZATION LACKED INTERNAL SERVER SUPPORT STAFF.
IF YOU LEARNED ANYTHING FROM HOSTING ON BUILDTOLEARN, I HOPE IT WAS THAT WHEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM DELIVERING AS SERVICE - ANY SERVICE - THAT YOU IMMWEDIATELY TAKE STEPS TO KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND HOW LONG YOU ANTICIPATE TAKING TO RESTORE SERVICE.
If your looking for free hosting b2l offers posting for hosting. When the server is up its great. The problem is the server is down much of the time. If you need a site with good uptime this is not for you. If your just playing around it's great.
There's some things that are better left said. More than likely, anyone who has ever been hosted by BuildToLearn will know full well what I'm talking about.
1. Downtime - This site I would estimate might have a 60% uptime, give or take 5%.
2. Horrible Customer Service - This would depend on your meaning for customer service. If you mean by response time to a server downtime, and by the speed of processing requests after meeting the Forum Post requirement (For Hosting Packages), then I would give this a -500. The owner will process requests usually 2 weeks to 2 months. This is unacceptable as users took the time to post on his forum accordingly. If you mean by helping with things like programming and Cpanel/ whatever, then its fine.
Some would argue that this is the price for "free hosting". Bad customer service and frequent downtime are not suitable excuses for being free. I would suspect Ads or Forum Posting to be the price for free hosting.
Buildtolearn (aka B2L) is the best hosting service I've ever used.
To get your webspace, you just need to register to the B2L forum.
B2L is a community of web developers and graphists that are always available to help each other and newcomers.
This service is entirely free, WITHOUT ADVERTS and can be upgraded according to the contribution you make to the site (by posting threats or by submitting tutorials).
It really allows beginners to learn how to use the leading web technologies and also to meet new people for joined projects.
This webhost is the BEST free webhost ever. Very reliable, very good!.
It doesn't put any advertisements in your website, and its totally FREE! It gives a lot of installed scripts. This service have more options than a lot of the paid hosts.
This is a very good webhost! I would reccomend it to any one!
this host is a free host that offers the best free packages there is out there. the only downside is there is no instant setup and you need 50 posts to get hosting. but it is well worth it.
