The last post that was positive supposedly has an ip registered to canaca, and was posted at the english level that you are provided with from canaca's support; very weak.
This company has always had a lot of room for improvement. They could improve their service with the smallest (but significant) changes to their service.
In the past 3 years, I have had so many problems I just use the host for experimental hobby sites to see how traffic reacts. I haven't had much downtime like I did before, but I continue to have several issues with the apache setup they have, mainly the php & sql which they will not update.
It is clear canaca found a get rich quick 'scheme', because they obviously don't care about customers or providing integrity. It is insulting that they take the name Canaca. It was likely one of their accidental mispells.
Stay away, or you'll get sucked in forever by billing issues, and server problems. I give it less than a week for my host to start getting downtime for posting this.

Expensive as $Can is higher, they still charge 1.2 change rate
Up time is not too bad but not as good as Yahoo or others. It is usually above 99% (I have it monitored) however there is definitely down time, even during the day, which causes e-mails to bounce back and lost customers
Poor Tech support, via e-mail only. Poor invoicing support, via e-mail only.
Would not recommend!

I wish 0 out of 5 was an option. The worst service ever!!! So frustrating I cant even start telling you the nightmares I have had trying to deal with support. I know a bit about websites and hosting so my questions were important and legitimate yet they treated me poorly and never answered my requests completely (if I even got a response).
The worst service I have had in any aspect of life. Canaca you suck and blow at the same time! I am in the process of switch to something else right now! |

Here's a GREAT lie if I've ever read one.

First off, they don't accept walk ins. It's stated right on their website. Second of all, how often do you pay this bill? Monthly? Yearly? Who drives to their office to pay the bill, when it's all done online? Hrm, lies lies lies.
That note was written by an internal Canaca employee. The submitting IP address gives it away! What a joke!!
Now, onto my story.
I got referred to them from a friend about 4 years ago. It was a great change from my previous host, who turned out to be some guy in his basement running a poorly configured NT4 box out of a cheap Co-Lo facility in Toronto. Canaca SEEMED good.
Time went on, and I realized they never update their scripting languages on the servers. I tried for years for them to switch to newer versions, but they refuse, as their servers will not support it.
Finally, I'd had the last straw this November. My site was going down every day (literally), and I was noticing as I was doing continual work on it. Emails to emergency support would go on for 30-40 minutes, then magically, it was back up, only to fail another hour or two later.
I moved my site, and 5 of my clients over to HostGator, who have been absolutely amazing. I have had a LOT of questions and small things I needed done on my HostGator service, and the support there is INSTANT. They offer full online chat, phone support, and Ticketing. It's amazing.
Now, I've got 3 clients left on their service. One of the accounts just got suspended temporarily as they claim we loaded SPAM bots on our account and were abusing the service. I found a TON of filename.php.rar files above my root. The only people who would have access to that would be my main root account, and the host. Seeing as there was no logged access to the admin or FTP in the timeframes the files were created, the only other option is that it was maliciously put there by their employees, then blamed on me.
Now, the sites continually go down on a weekly basis, slow speeds are continual, and they blame it all on the client.
They claim my slow speed (read: taking upwards of 1 minute to load a basic HTML page) is because of my ISP. In my initial support ticket I showed them ping/tracerts from 3 different ISPs at the time (Rogers Cable, Bell Nexxia Wholesale DSL, and a DS-3 connection I'm on at the office), all across seperate ISPs and trunks.
I've been fighting with the support for 3 days now, as they said "You will receive a call very soon at xxx-xxx-xxxx", yet it's now been 3 days, and they refuse to address any of the issues I have. I've proven it to be their servers, yet they won't admit to fact proven through stats.
I've asked them for access logs, reports, and other type things proving their claims, as I'm able to show reports proving otherwise, yet they refuse to supply them.
NEVER EVER GO WITH THIS HOST!!!!!!!!!! |

I too now wish that I would have read reviews. This company last December cancelled my domain 1 day pefore it expires and it ended up with a company in Las Vegas that tried to sell it back to me for $ 650.00, I got a new domain name and had to have Canaca host it again because it was on their server. This time they sent me a billing for a wrong account and I could not reach them by phone so I sent a Fax, and same day as I renewed they cancelled and deleted my website, that had cost me a lot of money to be designed. There is no way I can get it back and I don't think I'll even get my money back. When I finally reached their sales department by phone, and asked for that refund, I was told to e-mail their accounting department, which is a joke. |

what a waste of money,i should really be happy seeing that most of the people who are hosted by canaca are getting scammed and some of them dont even know it,after 1 week with this company and i moved my site to hostpapa which is an excellent hosting company,at canaca what they do is hire a bunch of immigrants from somewhere like the usa and pay them 14$ an hour to answer the phone calls from people like me and everyone else on this site,lets shut this scam company down and everyone report them to the bbb,canaca already has over 100 reports with them and email tucows who canaca is a reseller for them i already did this and was told that i was just 1 person EVERYONE SEND EMAILS TO TUCOWS AND THE BETTER BUISNESS BUREAU YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED AND WASTING YOUR MONEY |

I had twice impossibility to upload new files.
And today I can't even visualize my page or upload anything.
When i send emails to the tech service, all I have is a failure mail delivery notification.
So I have to go in their website and check which email I can use, and wait for 2-3 days for a reply, menawhile the problem seem solved.
There are plenty of web services available around the world, I think I just picked the wrong one.
I do not recommend this.
if someone is posting good comments, I personally think that he is lucky that he did check his website only when it was actually working. |

I'm using Canaca services since 2003 and Have not had any single issue with them I have been using 1 & 1 company and customer care was such a hell, They are just fine if you ask me as they are completely helpful.

just stop this bullshits as I know most of you just abused their servers , about 2 years ago I had a single problem about speed and they told me someone just overloaded the server and they kicked him out after that it is working fine for more than 3 years!

i got my first website through canaca what a mistake as their service was no good to me as after i purchased the package and got my info they told me i would need a program like ms frontpage so i asked for a refund and all they do is play tag with you saying that my emails are blank and have even phoned but thats useless but after some investigating i found out they are registered through www.tucows.com so i emailed sandro@canaca.com and told him im gonna contact them and report canaca as they are refusing to give back my money although the have a 30 day refund policy so sandro emailed me back and told me that tucows wont do anything and they would basically ignore me as i am just 1 costumer out of 50000 so what i figure is anyone who is trying to get their cash back through canaca email sandro and email tucows and the more that email them maybe just maybe we can get our cash back any one need anymore info about them can email me at matt_angel420@yahoo.ca |

Web hosting from hell! Their systems administrators are incompetent. Their customer service, advertised as 24/7, does not exist at all, except via e-mail, and even then they are unresponsive.
Our web site was down more often than it was up. They make all sorts of excuses when caught with their pants down, if you're lucky enough to get one at all.
This company has accused us of spamming several times when in fact we have never used their SMTP servers for any purpose. Our incoming e-mail is redirected to hotmail accounts. We use hotmail for all our outgoing e-mail delivery. These people are either incompetent, run an unsecured site, or are outright thieves. I am of the personal opinion that they are quite witty thieves actually.
They coincidentally take down your web site just after having received web hosting payment. If for every new walk in customer they sign up, a pre-existing customer site is shut down, they can run an increasingly profitable business without the need for additional infrastructure resources.
We recommend that you stay as far away from CANACA as possible. This has been the worst web hosting experience in our companies history.

Like many others, I have also had problems with canaca auto-billing my credit card without notification. It is very difficult to get them to refund. Fortunately, I did have success. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!
If you are considering going with this hosting company, DON'T!!! Their 24 hour support is awful, and don't try to get them on the phone, it is impossible.
Also, their e-mail and website hosting goes down at least every other week, if not more often. Also, when they change something they do not tell you. I had a character language default, and when they would change something I would have to e-mail them to tell them to reset my defaults. I think I would have to this every other month. It was very frustrating.
Then when I finally decided to move my company to another hosting company, I e-mailed them to cancel my account. I assumed that everything would go through fine. It didn't second guess it. Then a few months later, I get an e-mail stating that I have been charged for the next installment of hosting. I e-mailed and said that I had cancelled with them back a few months earlier, and they said, sorry I didn't get your e-mail. And there was nothing that they would do about it. I asked them to call me repeatedly, and they did not.
The whole experience was awful and not worth the frustration!!
There are many other better hosting providers, give your business to them and do not bother with CANACA!! |

As I am posting these comments, my sites are both down and Canaca.com is also down.
I have been a customer of Canaca for more than 3 years and have referred others to this company as well. The service has never been all that great, but for my needs, it was O.K at the time. Within the past 2 years, my needs have changed therefore my expectations along with them.
I opened a ticket to help me resolve the slow response times when requesting my URL and or Email. This process took a few months to resolve. They kept telling me nothing was wrong. Finally one support technician replied with "we need to move you to our new Cpanel Servers". They asked me to back up my site and perform the move myself. I requested that they perform the move. Just back up all my folders and make the move. They refused. It took me some time, but with some help from a colleague that had some Cpanel experience, the move was complete.
Now that everything is switched over to the new Cpanel, the service has been down more than it has been up. My colleagues are upset with me everyday, as our business has been on the rise and the constant down time is frustrating them. To the point of finding a new host no matter the cost.
I would not recommend this host moving forward, mainly for their poor Technical support and constant down time. I have tried on numerous occasions to get a live person on the phone, but no such luck.
No customer service!

When I first started out with canaca to host my websites they were fine. I was using their VPS1 service, once my sites got busy I noticed that the server was crashing on a regular basis. I upgraded to a VPS3, which took over 1 week and two tries, i ended up finishing the upgrade myself, and it was even slower than the VPS1. My 100Gb drive was really a 55 Gb drive (compressed) 600MB Ram was not real. They said I had 2.4Tb/mth in Bandwidth, I was using 20 - 30 Gb.day when they just shut me down without any warning. Now they do not want to refund my money.
A few days earlier I sent them a message that their support and service was no good, its no surprise they shut me down a few days later and lied about me overloading the server.
If anyone wants to join together and bring a class action lawsuite up against these people then let me know, via this board. |

I would not recommend these guys to anyone. They host out of India and so if you can get to tech support they can't do anything. Billing overcharged and don't accept phone calls. If you fill out a ticket don't expect a call back.Yes they have low pricing but you get what you pay for. |

Frankly, I was surprised to read the negative reviews. I have two websites hosted by Canaca, and I can recall only one instance of downtime in several years. That was during an upgrade, for which I had been warned well ahead of time.
Customer support has been excellent. The only time I've needed support was at the time I first set up the two sites, and the response was quick and helpful. As well, I find it necessary to contact them when I change credit cards, and I am able to get friendly help by phone quickly. As a matter of fact, at one time I was having a problem with the credit card I wished to use for hosting costs, and canaca extended my payment deadline until I had the problem cleared up.
Pricing is excellent. I have only one minor complaint: Although the Canadian dollar is now three cents above the American dollar, I am still being billed as if the Can $ is 20 cents below American. Canaca advertises that all billing is in American currency, but that is not so. |

I've been with canaca for about 4 years now. Change to canaca because my host at that time was bought and downgraded all plan. Still wanted a canadian hosting company and found Canada. Placed an order and 30 mins after, I recieved a call from them to comfirm and was up and running few minutes after.
Only problem I had was the mail server crashed or something else. Find it weird at that time but the problem was resolve in the same hour the hour after my ticket was posted.
Since it have been 3 years and no problem.
Customer support may be a little cold, but always effective for me.
