Verdict : I thought I was alone with my dissatisfaction of the "pirate hosting company called FASTHOSTS but it appears not.
I joined Fasthosts hosting company many years ago and used to recommend them to many mates and others because the where British and at the time their support was great .
BUT NOW ---->>>
Utter and total rubbish , not only do they lie to you about the cost of changing servers they also take weeks to answer an email pleading them for an answer about why your website is down , and when asked if a paticular piece of software is on their servers to enable me to down/up -load some of my site modules they just reply saying "don't support that module " nothing about the software to install it .
SO IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS =====>>>
I told them to refund the money they conned out of me for the server change and to stick their hosting plans .
Lo and behold they stole money out of my bank account AGAIN before issuing an invoice and then said we don't do refunds when I requested my money back AGAIN !

Verdict : I bought 1 month hosting from fasthosts for trying. (www.ladybellydance.com)Because they have "moneyback" guarantee. I was load my script to my hosting but I was need a database. They don't give database with hosting. You must buy extra ($50-$60).
I bought database to .And I load successfully my script but not working. I sent support ticket to fasthosts and they don't respond 2 days. I call and I was want moneyback. They don't moneyback because they refund for "ONLY HOSTING". They don't have moneyback guarantee for Database! Hosting is $4-5 but Database is $50-$60. THEY DID'NT REFUND FOR DATABASE. Please be careful to this company!

Verdict : Please read the Fasthosts Terms and Conditions carefully:

“You are required to have a valid credit/debit card and email address registered on your account at all times, failure to do so will result in suspension of your account.”
“All invoices will be sent directly to customers via email shortly AFTER the online purchase has been made. At this point the customer's card will be charged automatically.”

My experience is that they consider everything an online purchase and charge your credit card, without authorization, for purchases their computer thinks everyone wants and for services you were unaware you had to inform them you didn’t ask for. You can’t question the invoices because they are sent after the payment was taken from your card and you’re not getting your money back due to the Terms and Conditions.

These guys are corporate thieves and they laugh at you by sending an invoice after they’ve stolen your money.

Verdict : I have been with fasthosts for many years but recently, their billing practices and customer services have taken a definite turn for the worse.

After having my wallet stolen, my card details on the fasthosts website were not up to date. Not realising my hosting account was due, fasthosts tried to bill my card, then when it failed, charged me £23 'debt recovery fee'. After many emails trying to cancel my account or get a refund for this fee, fasthosts were simply not interested and refused to give me a refund. This was for a product that I was paying 12 months in advance for, hadn't yet received and no longer wanted. They didn't care - I had to pay with no refund. They gave me 3 months free to keep me happy. They also claim they sent emails reminding me about my card - none of which I received, but they didn't believe me.

Then again, a few months later I saw that 2 of my domains had been automatically renewed - payment taken straight from my card. I didn't want these renewed without prior notification and again they said emails had been sent - they hadn't. They also won't refund the payments even though it was taken 30 days before the domain expires.

Be careful with your domains and account renewals. Fasthosts automatically take payment UNLESS you opt out. AND they charge you a fee if your cards are out of date. AND they don't send reminder emails! AND they don't give refunds once paid!

Needless to say I won't EVER, EVER go near fasthosts again and will advise everyone not to go near them with a barge pole.

Verdict : They have absolutely no support whatsoever, and are ridiculously expensive, especially considering how cheap and good US hosting services are.

Anything you ask (even if it's their fault) and they will charge £70 on your credit card immediately. Without doing any work. Yes. That's right. It's called "personal engineer service" and applies to anything, and costs £120 an hour plus VAT. They say "we'll refund it if it turns out to be our fault". All you will get is a roundabout excuse that it's your fault.

DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. And more so, do not give them credit card details, they will charge whatever they want. Reported to the authorities.

Verdict : Fasthosts' subsidiary company UKREG recently took money from my card without my permission for something I did not request or require.


When I immediately contacted them asking them politely to please refund some money they had stolen, they basically told me to go fly...

I then got a little more forceful and told them that I would contact my card company and report the THEFT they had blatantly committed. Expecting them to simply do the right thing, Fasthosts in return threatened ME with "punitive fee's" if I went ahead and REPORTED THEIR THEFT to my card company!!!

Some years ago I used Fasthosts for fairly expensive (roughly £50 a month) pro web hosting services.

However, I was ultimately compelled to cancel that account due to their shocking overall performance and truly miserable attitude towards customers. I only now use UKREG (a Fasthosts subsidiary) for domain names, however recent experience indicates that their performance and diabolical attitude towards customers has not improved a tiny bit in recent years...

Be warned, Fasthosts / UKREG are, in my opinion, truly AWFUL in every respect!

Verdict : My site has a mysql database. Some of the time it is fine, some of the time it is slow, some of the time it is unusuably slow, and some of the time you simply cant connect to the database at all.

I am moving from Fasthosts because I want a site that users can reliably connect to.

Verdict : Having been with Fasthosts for a number of years I was disappointed to recently have a 23.50 charge.

You will see that other people have successfully had their money refunded. The charge is actually unlawful and although at first they will refuse, in the end you will get your money back.

I have emailed their escalations department regarding the charge they posted on my card and am still waiting a week later, so it looks like we're off to court.

Only posting this to let others know that they should not be settling with this.

Come on Fasthosts, the charge is unlwaful! and you know it.

Verdict : In light of the recent ruling by the OFT on the high charges made by credit card companies and banks I thought you may be interested in learning that Fasthosts, a major internet service provider believes it can charge people £23.50 for late payments with apparent impunity.

Their statement says that the charge is due to the account being place in debt collection. However as far as I can see they simply tried to take the charge one week later and succeeded. No debt recovery measures were taken other than sending an email which costs nothing.

In addition Fasthosts should not have been taking the money on 29th of October since the account is paid monthly and was started on 3rd March 2006. Gradually since then, Fasthosts have been moving the date earlier and earlier, e.g. 1st June, 30th August, 29th September. At this rate it appears I will be paying for an extra months hosting every two years.

Finally Fasthosts state that they immediately suspend a facility when payment is not taken yet still seem it is appropriate to initiate debt collection for a service they are evidently not willing to provide even up to the true renewal date of 3rd November.

I have used Fasthosts for many years and a major problem with them before, nor have I ever had a payment issue with them previously. This however seems irrelevant to their accounts department.

I feel there is no other choice but to find an alternative supplier that does not unnecessarily penalise its customers and treat them will so little respect. If you are considering Fasthosts then I would suggest you look elsewhere.

Beware this company! They scam you!

My credit card expired and without advance warning Fasthosts made a £23.50 "debt recovery charge" - sharp practice since i gave my new credit card details within five minutes of receiving an email saying the first renewal payment hadn't gone through!!!

There was no warning in their first email, just a nice message asking that i update my information.

This must be a scam!

Verdict : I was told by the sales team that I could send encrypted emails but when came to it it was not possible.

I was over the 30 days and they would not refund any of my money.

As the previous post they are Ok if you don’t have any problems. But in this game there are always issues and I don’t think that the customer service is very good.

Verdict : I was with fasthosts for 2 years and thought their service was not too bad, until that is I had spoken with other website designers who told me to steer clear.
They're support service is shite as is their stats programmes and webmail, now they charge £20 if your late making your monthly payment of £58 (RIP OFF BASTARDS)! They allow you a control panel that doesnt remind you of renewals such as stats and other stuff, but if you dont keep on top, they'll get your money. I reported them to my bank CC and they intervened and recovered the money they had stolen, I closed my account and went with heart internet former oweners of PIPEX

Verdict : Fasthosts are ok when things are going well and you don't have any disputes but once there is a dipute and it requires a refund then they terribly unhelpful and arrogant. I was trialing their email hosting service but it didn't work so I asked for a refund. Because I had gone over the 30 day money back guarantee period they refused to give me a refund on the years subscription. That is £200 in their pocket for a service that I couldn't even get to trial properly. I offered to pay for the month but they refused to compromise. I am disgusted with their attitude and am moving my account to Fluent.

Verdict : The initial set-up was easy via their control panel.
They have always responded to queries quickly and accurately.

The site contains useful FAQs and techie documents to help you.
I recently moved from MS Access to Mysql and they had an article on how to get your data uploaded (restore/backup)..made it easy.

My site is under construction, but I'm in there a lot via ftp and
there's only been a couple of times when connections were refused.
Not Bad!

They have an issues board with current system problems.

Verdict : Fasthosts do offer a fairly reliable service, with good uptime. BUT, they don't appear to respond very well or quickly to enquiries. The various packages are fairly competitively priced, but features which are standard with most other hosts come at a premium. Additionally, it would appear that individual customers do, on occasion, get a better deal that those on a reseller package. It sometimes feels as if Fasthosts are trying to price their own resellers out of the market. I would definitely recommend Fasthosts if you just want to set up the occasional site, but I'd advise potential resellers to shop around. I certainly intend to.
