I picked Homestead at the dawn of the Internet, because there was little else out there, and it came with a very user friendly WYSIWYG editor, as I was not a web designer by any stretch of the imagination.
Their hosting was reliable, (~ 9 years & hardly any downtime - very solid service) the WYSIWYG editor was good, they had some neat tricks and through all of this being sufficient, I stayed.
But recently I questioned why I was paying over the odds for a host that doesn't support php or offer MySQL, and looking out there I realized that I'm being screwed, price-wise. That's it really - OK service, but way too expensive for too little. And if you have a question that falls out of their very limited knowledge base, they just direct you to their forums. I can't diss Homestead, they are a good host, but cost WAAAAY too much for what they offer. |

Not being a developer, I initially chose Homestead based on their " Website in Hours " Ads. They failed to mention their software wasn't Mac compatible. After two months I was informed of the same, being pointed to their " Mac Light " suite. Their Mac Suite of software was limited to the point it was unable to develop the site. Finally, I cancelled and canceling was very difficult. In late July, I wanted to move my Domain name, called them and they convinced me it was best to let them " park " it. Early August, I get a bill for $35.00. Someone there, had re-opened my original account without my knowledge. Early Sept. another $35.00 charge, I am unable to cancel the account. At least 12 calls, 15 to 20 personal request, four help tickets and counting. Last check, a few hours ago, they had cancelled the $35.00 account but opened another $9.00/mo. account in my name, two days ago they verbally guaranteed me the account was closed. Each call, correspondence etc. has very specific timing associated with it. Must call within 24 hours but no sooner than 10 to 12 hours. If you call them at 24 Hours and 1 minute, all prior efforts are nullified. NIghtmare. Must request in writing then you must confirm that request by voice. Once done, then you must go back and confirm the written request was in fact your request. If I were to of missed any step/time ( I didn't ) the entire process begins again. They will tell you the account is closed, you look and there it is, still wide open, warning there will be no refunds for charges they make against your credit card. Me, middle of Sept. and still haven't gotten this new account, they opened without my knowledge, closed. And, they refuse to refund the entire amount of their charges. I Hope others do not fall victim to my plight. |

If used them to host and design are site. They said are site would be built out in 2 weeks. It took over a month. Then we had some glitches on are website and we spent 1 week trying to get ahold of them. When we finaly did they said " oh sorry some of are designer were on vacation". I would not recommend Homestead to anybody. Really bad customer service. |

There was no verbal support when I first signed up only email support. They provided answers that were directly out of a book. The REAL problem comes with the clairity of the fonts. It doesn't have a polished look. Our business needs a professional appearance.
