Verdict : I know when i can say, when a hosts makes up a FAKE testimonial for my site then SPAMS it on their site as if I made it, that is just SICK. These people are outright RIDICULOUS. 24/7 SUPPORT? YOU KIDDING? Maybe 24 hour reply, 7 year resolution. I have had issues since I started and all they do is blame it on me. I am not the only one with issues people! This host is outright RIDICULOUSLY INCONSIDERATE AND IMMATURE.

The guy behind this operation is 19 years of age, no wonder why we never get replies. Hes probably studying in college!!! hostingdepartment stole my money and my clients. go to hell hd!!!

Verdict : Hostdepartment really sucks.
I've read a lot of bad reviews everywhere with problems people was having from long ago until I got a post from someone who said hey guys those reviews are really old now (like 2 years old) may be their learned from experience. After that post there were no other posts till present so I desided to give them a try since my needs for space have increased and I couldn't get a satisfactory deal with my former host. That was 15 days ago.

Just to be walking on the safe side of the street at least during the first days I decided to test the host to the best of my posibilities then I wrote a ping report program and ran it locally on my own pc for a few hours. You wouldn't believe the downtimes and ping timeouts I recorded. I also was running the same tests over all other websites I have with other hosts with much better results elsewere.
Additionally, and just by using my web browser I noticed the same ping timeouts, pages took forever to open and many many times didn't open at all. This means the whole 60 meg website was down.
I love their control panel. The flexibility it provides is say.. unique (?) but that is the only feature I'll miss.
Customer support answers are canned responses for common topics. For everything else you never get an answer. Yesterday I sent 3 tickets for different issues. Today I got only 1 answer but I'm still waiting for 4 answers since last week.
Contacting billing is a joke. I asked for my money back (they offer 30 day money back) and to close my account after. That was 2 days ago. My account today is not operational at all but there are no traces of my money neither their sales or billing dept have answered any email.
Good thing is I paid with Paypal and I've already filled a complain.
My sugestion to you is stay away of HostDepartment unless you are masochist or really like to throw your money away or you have no idea of when a site is down and want to believe is allways on.
Another sugestion is don't contract hosting (or other online purchase)if you can't pay them with paypal. They force them reply and if they don't you get your money back by default.
I've spent lot of hours looking for a new host. Then I've wasted so many hours testing and trying to get my website back online with HDep. Now I have to start all over again.

Verdict : I have been with Host Department long enough now to be able to pass judgement on this poor web hosting company. Although their prices are very attractive, it would be a false ecconomy to think you will save with this company. On signing-up with them, prepare to spend hours and hours and hours bringing to their attention that your sites are down. They won't even be aware of the problems until you tell them. There seems to be no preventative measures or monitoring of their servers, they just seem to react to customer calls. Then you often get fed a line about them working on your issues, etc. Once of my sites has been down for nearly 10 days now, with little hope of them finishing the move from one server to another. If you can find another host, then i would recommend that you avoid Host Department.

Verdict : I've been using hostdepartment for around 6 years. They used to be relatively solid - not perfect but a great value for the price.

They have been getting progressively worse. I wouldn't be looking for a new host if they could go more than 2 weeks without breaking my sites with their "server optimization transfers."

Support is readily available but very very frustrating. Google "hostdepartment sucks" and you will find countless frustrated customers. when I signed up for them years ago they had a very good reputation. Things have changed.

Verdict : I have to admit the cost of this service is great.

The support is usually availble through chat 24/7. The problem is that I need to contact support at least weekly to get the status of another server down. There response is usually something like. Sorry Sir our admins are working on the problem. They gennerally have no idea what the issues are or offer much help.

I have had a reseller account with them for about 6 or 7 months now. My monitoring shows that some of my sites bounce up and down daily. Several times I had sites down for over 24 hours.

Their email servers have been frequently down or incredibly slow for days at a time.

Verdict : Excellent technical support. There is always someone there to contact and they respond very quickly. Good value and excellent features including bandwidth, disk space. I have been with them for 6 months now. Highly recommended.

Verdict : HostingDepartment is awesome!, Their online support is always available to help if you have a problem. As soon as I had a question I went on and had an answer in under 5 minutes. Do yourself a favor and save a lot of hassle, get an account with HostingDepartment.

I plan to get a VPS soon from them, there great.

Verdict : I am using HostingDepartments Pro plan for 6 months now and I love it. I signed up for 1 years. I am hosting about 10 web sites here and one of my sites is receiving average 4000 unique visitors per day and the server is handling it well. 3/4 is static HTML and 1/4 dynamic (i.e. cgi and php). I am also developing new sites here using 3 Joomla! CMS, 1 postnuke CMS and 4 phpBB forums. I don't think the server could handle it once the traffic is picking up and that is why I intend to look for another VPS to supplement my VPS & my shared plan here. So far I have 2 in mind - HD's VPS or Spry, I dont want to leave HostingDepartment as there very good, my site has been down once in 6 months & that was due to a ram upgrade.

Support wise: Its great, I have submitted over 10 tickets this month & all have been replied to within 30 minutes, only one took 1 hour but that was on a sunday, you cant ask more than that.

One thing for sure is I will be with HostingDepartment for a very long time as long as I can afford it and so far the price is the cheapest. For less than US$8 you can't find better hosting on the web.

Verdict : At first glance this site was quite the eye catcher. They had live support which answered your quick questions before you became a member and once you became a member it got a little different. They seemed to not know much about what they were doing.

For one they couldn't decompress our site backup from our previous host. So we spent 2 days atleast talking with them about that. Which in the end they said we had to copy it file by file. Which is about 150mb of files to transfer directory by directory. Turns out some of the files didnt even copy correctly.

But then there was even more of a problem. They couldn't even help us transfer our database. This process took another 3-4 days of waiting and contacting their live support chat everyday. They must have told us about 20 different ways of doing stuff. They said to download this, then do this, then do that, then that didnt work so they said download this etc etc etc. We just got so fed up with them trying to get us to do things that didnt work so we cancelled our service.

Their live support is only good for one thing. Asking SIMPLE questions . When it comes to the part where you need help they tell you to either wait or do it yourself. Then you wait a few days just to find out that they couldnt do it.

Their knowledge for technical support is very low and they seem to just want to get around those things. Other then that their quick support is quite nice and their control panel is cleanly planned out.

This was just a case that a customer had a really bad experience. Im sure other people have had good experiences but that isnt the case here.
