This company is NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!! At first I was a loyal user of Hosting U and had approximately 30 sites hosted with them at one time. The price was attractive and no problems AT FIRST. However, we had a server hacked into and could not communicate at all with anyone at Hosting U -- not by phone or email. We had no choice but to move the sites. There is another very important issue. They advertise FREE DOMAIN WITH HOSTING. However, what they do is register the domain IN THEIR NAME. They list you as registrant but ALL THE CONTACT INFO IS TO THEM. Therefore, you have NO CONTROL OVER THE DOMAIN. The only way to renew the domain is to renew the hosting. No control panel access to the domains. I had to complain to the company they resell for, OnlineNIC, in order to renew the domains I registered with Hosting U without renewing hosting.
STAY AWAY FROM HOSTING U!!! THEY ARE THEIVES. |

This website hosting company is good until you need support. I have had my website posted there for 2+ years and on three occasions, the server has gone down for more than 24 hours at a time. The issue is that when it goes down no one notifies you and when you call of email them, you do not get a reply. It's ridiculous and unprofessional. I am now in the process of transferring everything to a new hosting service. I do not recommend their service. Customer service is essential. Even a "we are working to fix it" response is better than no response at all. I am now switching web hosts and email service. |

HostingU.com is crap, don't every try and park your site with tem!! I site has gone form the web, all my data is lost, e-mail is not working. I put in a couple of problem ticket and so far I am not getting any reply, it has been almost 4 days. Really don't know what those guys are up to. If you are one of them who is also having the same problem I suggest you transfer your site to a different company!! They are just sucks!! |

Do not have anything to do with this peaple. The guy who owns this company is the criminal & should be dealth with as such.
- My site was down at least onece a week without any reason.
- I've received two emails from them & they had no clue about anything.
- Now my site is gone with all of the files & there is no response to my emails at all.
- To make things worse I can't even login in to my account - Account deleted.
- I never broke any rules of theirs.
- Never went over bandwith limit.
- Site was non-comercial (linux security support)
DO NOT LOOSE MONEY & TIME WITH HOSTINGU.COM - THEY ARE CRIMINALS |

I have had a few occassions to contact customer support, I have TWO accounts with HostingU.com. Out of 4 contacts in 18 months, they contacted me back once However they resolved ALL problems within 12 hours.
I have rcommended HostingU.com and will do in the Future, for the money I pay I could not ask for a better service, nor do I expect it.
I also have a Site at Web.com, for Twice the Cost I have had a much poorer service, my Email account is still not working right after 18 Months. I mention this as a comparison, with Two accounts at hostingU.com I am more than happy. |

Would never recommend to anyone.
Unresponsive/No Contact/No refund - horrible business

We set up an account with them on 19 Oct 2003 and just like another poster here, it took them about 2 or 3 days before the account could log in. When that worked, we ran into another problem and never heard back from HIM. I say him because we never heard from anyone other than Christopher Decker.
We tried calling the number but never got anyone. At that time, there was an answering machine that basically said "No One is available, try back later" and then hung up giving you no chance to leave a message. We requested the account be cancelled as soon as we saw the support was no where what was advertised and all methods to contact anyone met with silence (4 days tops).
After being told to cancel the account via e-mail many times, he later tried to charge our credit card twice over nearly 3 months. We got those charges back and finally decided to cancel that card and get a new one to thwart any other chances of CC abuse.
cyanide: I would love to know more about the investigation and how we can help. Decker/HostingU fully deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
He never did fully turn over the "free" domain that came with our HostingU package and onlinenic.com is only working on his side. We successfully nagged them and somehow got them to change the DNS after leaving HostingU. However, we recently needed to change the DNS again and they yet again referred us to HostingU.

I would also be leary of any company that considers HostingU or Christopher Decker to be a "valued partner" and continues to work with him. I know that those of us on this board can not be the only ones who have had these issues.

I called around and ended up filing a report with the Wisconsin Consumer Protection Agency (if memory serves me correctly). I have yet to hear anything from them as well. Maybe he has friends/relatives there
If anyone reading this decides to not believe those who have posted here, and does business with either company, be sure to do it in a way that you can get your money back. And do not register a domain with onlinenic that you do not want to lose. We have had to fight them tooth and nail to get any changes done to a domain where we were the registered owner.
We finally decided today that it was not worth it and registered another domain. |
