I've been with hostsave for two years now. I love it. Never had any problems. The only thing that i wish is that they had reseller accounts. I have three websites with them and i design websites. I send my clients to them but i wish they could be hosted by me instead.
After two short month my hostsave site is down - Its costing the money I saved using them by 1000x what I've invested. As I right this review my site is down
I am a webmaster for many websites, a professional graphic designer for 33 years.I had more problems with the three domains I had at Hostsave that all the other 65 websites I manage put together.
The customer service is rude, ill informed, and poor at best. Repeated calls did not resolve my trouble.
Email would suddenly quit working. I was told that I had the wrong settings, which they provided. Then, suddenly email would work. Then it wouldn't again and they had no idea how to correct it.
I was billed after cancellation.
My sites were frequently down.
My advice to anyone reading this to NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH HOSTSAVE. They are terrible, unprofessional, and I will tell everybody I know that is looking for webhosting...and in a given year that is around 50 people...not to use Hostsave.
I used to think that Hostsave was the best but I am beginning to think that there goal is not to keep their customers happy. I have put in a couple of requests for them to upgrade php to a version that is at least competitive but was told that they have no intention of upgrading php. If I wanted a more current version I could sign up for one of their other companies for $25 a month. I have 9 websites on their server and plan on moving all of them as soon as I find a solution.
Terrible Company. I used to have a couple accounts with them, but I am so glad this will be over soon. I moved my last website in June and cancelled my account. Changed the DNS over to the new provider, and everything was great until end of October. Hostsave all of a sudden decided to erase the DNS entry for our website. Nothing worked. No email, no website, no nothing. Phoning networksolutions they told me that Hostsave is the "wholesale" provider of that domain and thus has full control over it. Nothing they or I can do. Phoning Hostsave just got me deeper into a papermountain. I have to now fax 20 pages fill out to 3 different numbers, just to be able to my website up and running again. Will I get Hostsave again. Hell no! And I recommend you don't either. Go with Lunarpages. Love those guys! They have some troubles to sometimes, but at least not like Hostsave. And what the hell are they doing running PHP 4.0.something. Get with the times, that version is 3 years old!
I am considering a class-action lawsuit against this company because of fraudulent billing practices, similar to what AOL has done. I am looking for others who may want to join the class action. If you or anyone else are interested, please send contact info to downwithhostsave@usa.com
Have already removed 3 domains off their server and moved to another company. Will be removing the remainder when the contract expires. Their customer service is really, really poor and their tech support is almost as bad. I've had to contact both my credit card company and the BBB regarding this company. Their hosting features are outdated versions (i.e. PHP) and their e-mail server goes down constantly. This is unacceptable if you are trying to run an online business and rely on emails for order notification and your own customer support. To get any online support from HostSave you have to register and then fill out a form and wait for a response. Very bad business experience with this company. I have been quite happy so far with IPowerWeb
