Had substantial reliability issues when hosting our website with Intermedia; they finally agreed to move our site to a different server due to persistent downtime and slowness. When we finally moved to a different host our website reliability improved substantially. We left our mail hosting with them for about 6 more months, and eventually moved to google apps. We cancelled our account with intermedia, but they failed to update their systems - and any mail sent to anyone hosted at intermedia failed for weeks. Called to correct and they were very rude about it; took several calls to resolve an issue they should have managed when we discontinued our account.
Intermedia's web hosting fits all the criteria that I was looking for. I've been hosting with them for about 1 year, and have never experienced any downtime. Also I must to write about their control panel HostPilot. It is very intuitive and don't require any technical knowledge at all. Just login and start to manage your account, it's so easy!

I've been hosting with Intermedia for about 6 month, and have never experienced any downtime. Cannot say anything about support, had no issues to contact them.
My experience with Intermedia has been horrible. After all of my sites went down for the entire day, I dealt with rude customer service reps that had no regard for anything. From the absent manager Bill Savage who was "in a meeting" to the asst manager Pete who never follows up to Vanessa the mean spirited and angry customer service rep...this is Not a hosting provider you want to deal with on any level. Stay Away from intermedia.
Used them for Miva shared hosting. After the first 3yrs, overall rating would have been 4/5. Because of the last yr, it dropped to 2/5. Constant problems keeping the site up. After a while, they admitted the server was unstable, and recommended we upgrade to a newer server and newer version of Miva. After the upgrade, the new site was a disaster. Didn't look or function like old site. They said we're on our own to fix problems...
Pricing is VERY expensive. Support is "hit or miss" depending who you get. Control panel is good, but VERY slow.
Intermedia have gone from being the best around to one of the worst. Their uptime and reliability for shared hosting is disgraceful. I have sites that are down more than they are up with these guys and yes I am moving them... as fast as possible.
They offer fantastic tools and control center but the downtime is becoming ridiculous.
When you send them an email asking why your site’s down they say... "We just accessed it ok. Send us a tracert if the problem persists". Obviously by the time they reply the site's back up.
I whole heartedly do NOT recommend these guys. They're expensive and undependable.
I use them for Exchange hosting. After a couple outage incidents in the first 6 months they have been rock solid, with great support and good management tools that cover basic controls, BlackBerry support, etc.
Our internal Exchange 2003 server's hardware had been having issues for a while. After seeing all the new buzz around Exchange Server 2007, I decided to stop doing it myself and outsource to Intermedia.net's exchange hosting for 2007. What a mistake! These jokers are completely incompetent at running Exchange. Their Exchange 2007 hosting kept going down, every Microsoft Outlook in all of our 7 offices would stop connecting many many times during the day, BlackBerry would not sync for hours, and their OWA was slow as molasses. They should hire some real administrators. Not a single person I spoke to was very technical. They're a sales company, not a technology company. I also found out that they use SATA hard drives in their "Enterprise" EMC SAN. Enterprises don't use SATA disks for storing Exchange Server data - their Exchange infrastructure is worse that the 5 year old stuff that I had. For every hard question, they kept saying: we'll get back to you tomorrow because we have to ask our admins in St. Petersburg, Russia. I was on their Exchange server named EXVMBX015-1. I decided to buy new hardware and brought it back inhouse. Beware of Intermedia.net.
I would never deal with this company. I paid for a year up front to help bring down the WAY overpriced hosting plans they have.
My project was cancelled and when I asked for a refund for unused time (11 months worth), they tacked on all kinds of cancellation fees, nonrefundable setup fees and 2 months of hosting as a "termination fee".
What a joke. This company gets 2 thumbs down from me. I guess if you can't keep customers happy, you have to do whatever you can to save some of the money your customers have paid!
Our bi-coastal, small business began using intermedia as an alternative to the expense of maintaining our own MS Exchange server in-house. At first it seemed like a perfect solution.
Our experience has been full of loss of connectivity and resulting downtime, problems sending attachments that are large but within limits specified, and allowing all users with permissions to access public folders hosted on their server.
Additionally, when I discovered after nearly a year that we were paying more for less space than what they were offering new customers, i demanded that our account be billed as such. my sales rep was consistently more helpful than customer service, billing, and tech support put together.
Please save your money and on aspirin -- avoid the intermedia headache!
I have been hosting with Intermedia for 3 years and have only one complaint. High cost!! Intermedia.net is a feature rich high end host good for critical business applications.
The hosting has a high monthly fee! They charge for everything. $5 per month per domain name. $10 for a mysql database, $5 for additonal disk space. Mail and web space are billed seperately!!
I called customer service when I discovered I was paying $105 for 10 domain names and 250mb of disk space. They said it was their policy not to lower the price of hosting plans for existing customers!!
I would not recommend them for anyone that does not have a big bank account!!
