These guys are just fine. They have responded promptly to my few support tickets. They also have an active and knowledgable user base who stalk their support forum to help out new comers. Good people, good users, good technology. FWIW, the company changed their name from TextDrive to Joyent. |

Textdrive suffers from continual, seemingly unsolvable reliability problems. A day hardly goes by without multiple server crashes. This is on FreeBSD servers! I get years of uptime on FreeBSD boxes elsewhere. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a problem with RoR. |

TextDrive is the latest venture from Dean Allen of Textism, Textpattern, and Textile fame. For serious web developers this is the most bleeding edge web host around. They charge a little more, but they keep their shared hosting uncrowded so performance is always good. They also make an effort to run the latest and greatest in terms of web development software. Due to their smaller size they are quite responsive about custom software and configuration requests.
I bought an account to supplement my Dreamhost account (which I have always been happy with) so that I could really get into Ruby on Rails. I highly recommend this host for anyone doing serious web development. |
