My experience parallels the others here with the proviso that now none of their links work. I can't get on my control panel. My site has been down for weeks. I'm trying to figure if they've gone out of business or not. I've paid up 5 years in advance. Should've moved my site sooner. Learn from my mistake. |

I was originally hosted by Dzones.com and was for about 4-5 years. Over the last year the UPTIME of Dzones was awfull. Months went by where it was up and then down all the time. Seemed liek there was always something happening on their end that made the site go down. The couldn't get back to you for crap on what was going on. No live support or 800 number to call should there be any issues. Then, they fixed all the problems after they moved our sites to a new server of theirs. We couldn't believe how great it was to have a site that was 'just up' all the time...
Fast forward to about 3 months back now. Dzones gets bought out by The Byte Shack.
Since that time, our sites have been down more then they have been up. Initially they said it was a faulty web monotiring service. We got three of them all reporting the same down times. Now, as of two weeks ago or about the middle of June 2007, they had MAJOR issues which took our sites down for 22 hous all at once, and a few months now of up and down all over again.
Their LIVE SUPPORT window now just says to leave a message and someone will get back to ya.. Like a day later if you're VERY LUCKY!! A couple weeks later if you aren't.
Try going to their SUPPORT FORUMS and voicing too loud your displeasure in that - they'll delete your posts, try it a few times - they'll ban you.
Piss poor customer service, they try to be nice and pleasant but that gets one no where if your site or sites hosted by them are not up.
Just take a look at their forum for a list of all the issues they have had as of late. Unbelievable!
If something MAJOR doesn't happen in a very quick manner to make us think that this crap won't happen again and that our sites will be up and stay up, not just up for a couple hours a day, we will leave and are actually talking with other companies now on moving our sites to their hosts.
Sad to leave and hate to do it, but they suck as a host anymore. Save your self some money that is spent on a host that is reliable. Great prices and great services available from them - they just can't respond to support tickets for a crap and can't keep a site up for very long. The deleting of posts on their forum too is piss poor customer service.
Can't NOT Reccomend them enugh as of late....

Having been hosted by DZones for nearly 3 years; the company was bought out by Byte Shack this past year. Starting in January the site has been down more times than in all previous years combined. The support tel number does not work. The support pages link do not work. Response to emails take days.. not hours, days. Highly unreliable, despite or because of their attractive pricing... and we are looking to switch hosts. Stay away from Byte Shack. |

I am afraid that they are horrendously awful and grossly incompotent to provide any sort of service. They suspended my account without notice once as they did not recognise my payment. They soon rectified this but did the same exactly the same. I had even enquired before the original suspension if all was in order, but they just went ahead and did it, throwing my whole web presence into paralysis. So if you are they type who loves to waste their hard earned money, by all means use Byte Shack, but if you have a few brain cells and a sense of rationality, do yourself a favour and stay well away from them!! |

Well I just have to tell you all that I would like to recommend http://www.thebyteshack.com/ if you are looking for real honest support.
I was with Rackspace upto 3 months ago. I was force to seek help with a failing hard drive from an outside company or lose my site. I found ServerSupportSuys.com on the net and nearly went by as they appeared to be a little higher priced that the other search results. I tell you right now that the support and help I recieved from this company for $99 per month was next to none I have experienced over the last 10 years.
I was so impressed with their level of support that once my problem was storted I started to talk to their sister company The Byte Shack at http://www.thebyteshack.com/. I rented a dedicated server built to my specification (Dual Core 3Ghz, 2Gb RAM, RAID1 250Gb Drives, sorry I just had to say that spec again :-). I added Server Suport Guys fully managed service to the above and got free off site nightly backup. I was very happy with the price for the spec I got and was quoted more from other larger providers.
Well I have been with them now for 5 months. And I have to say I have never had to fix a thing on the server, They just fix or update the server all under my price plan. Any support tickets I have ever placed have been answered quickly and helpfully. In fact I had one that got answered before I had finnished reading the post myself. :-)
So if you want great support by phone, ticket or live chat along with great value servers or vps or shared hosting I can with my hand on my heart recommend http://www.thebyteshack.com/ You will not find a more friendly and helpful bunch of lads anywhere.
Go talk to them live and see if they can help you.. They can even migrate you over for free or very little I think. I know I was not charged for al the work they did.
