I've been with valcato hosting from the beginning and have found them tirelessly helpful and their services top rate. Valcato host both my personal and my professional domains, and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone looking for domain hosting.
This host is cheap, fast and has great customer service. If I have a problem, they respond quickly and are friendly whilst providing their service. They answer the questions you ask and not the questions they think you really wanted to ask and don't fill their answers with nonsensical technical jargon. They always ask if there is anything more they can do for you and don't just assume that everything else is fine or make you fill in another support ticket for the sake of it.
The best part of their service is the feeling that you are dealing with a real person and not some robot that responds with the same corporate lines every time you need something done. I thoroughly recommend them.
Excellent customer service! I needed a plugin installed on SquirrelMail and it was done at my request even though normally that's not something that was supported by CPanel. Valcato once again goes above and beyond! I confidently recommend them to anyone.

Only been with the company a few months, but already theyve far surpassed any company I've used before, excellent uptime, as well as prompt and accessible support.
I've flitted from host to host in the past, but if things continue this way, I don't see myself switching again for a very long time.
The customer service of this host is very responsive, generally. On a couple occasions, it has taken a short while to recieve a response, but this is understandable due to the issues it has been regarding (see below).
Reliability got a 3 because of this bloody speed issue I have with their site and cPanel. The control panel (billing.valcatosupport.com) takes a good 10~20 seconds to load EACH PAGE, whether or not I use my local squid proxy, and from anywhere I attempt access. cPanel on my hosting account suffers from the same speed issues, regardless of whether I use a secure connection or not (which is what we thought the problem was at one point). There also seems to be nigh nothing happening on their forums, so I have always been using Support for help.
However, not everyone experiences this from what I have heard, so you may want to check and see if it affects you. This is also why I did not give a 5, but support helpfulness and uptime have been nothing short of superb.
I would recommend at least a trial with this host; after all, you have nothing to lose by trying.
I submitted a review while back (December 2004!) and thought others might like to have an update. I'm very happy to say I'm still with Valcato Hosting... and seriously haven't considered changing host at all. The new billing system was introduced with minimal fuss a while back and its now really easy to monitor the uptime of the server via the backend control panel.
Valcato also fulfill my 'extra' criteria of Staff (Product) knowledge with full colours - customers like to know that the staff know what they're doing! Support response time is now extremely rapid as well.
Sure, it doesn't have all the fancy displays/'set menus' offered by some of the larger hosts, but customers receive a personalised service, they have fantastic uptime, an informative website which is standards compliant(always a good sign), good communication when major changes occur (also with regards to script updates), and all the other 'trimmings' of a trustworthy host, hence I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this host again to anyone.
I was referred to Valcato by a friend of mine when I made it known that I was looking for a new web host. Though I have been rather inert in actually getting my site back online in a fully functional capacity, my dealings with Valcato have been top notch, and I have been very pleased with fast, personable, and affordable service.
I have already suggested Valcato to two colleagues, though I am uncertain as to where they eventually settled on hosting their domains.
ValcatoHosting is a stable webhost with a good customer support that will ressolve any issue. The live support is not always there but once caught online, they will really help you with your troubles. Overall 4 out of 5 because they use cPanel and the versions are all a bit old but the reliability is very good and I liked it as a first web hosting experience. I changed the webhost because I needed MySQL 5.0 and honestly I wish I didn't! ValcatoHosting is for people who need a stable webhost with reliability and friendly support.
I have really enjoyed having my site hosted by Valcato, as the people there, are very friendly and are qiuck to respond to your inquiry if the need arises. I also, have had no major downtimes. When i transfer my files they are so fast, that you are like "Which one did i finish up with?". I highly, recommend their services to anyone looking for a new home for their creations.
One of my favorite hosts. I have been hosting with them for years and their support has always been great, as well as their uptime and just about everything else.
I was a little dissapointed by their billing system, it doesn't seem like it works correctly all of the time. However, based on the timely support they have, this really wasn't that great of an issue for me. The problem I had was resolved quickley and was made out to be far less than it could have been.
Overall a great host, I definitely recommend trying them out!
I have been with Valcato almost since they started out.
Of couse you will allways deal with small problems and some downtime here and there. But that will be happening with any webhost.
Over the many years it seems to me very rare and not always Valcato's
fault if something went wrong. I have recommended Valcato to people I
made websites for and never had a bad experience.
The server that hosts the websites used to be the same that would notify
customers about problems. So if that one went down, everything was down.
But that was changed years ago and support is very good now.

I would highly recommend valcato to everybody. They offer everything for both the low level user up to the high traffic corporate sites. My site has high traffic and their £50/year price band is more than enough to cover this. Customer service is usually very fast - I can sometimes have to wait until the following day for a reply but this is VERY rare - they usually reply as soon as possible. They have also helped me many times with my website coding issues and given me tips which have helped my site.
I have 2 accounts with them... one standard one and one with custom amounts of bandwidth / space. They are always more than happy to negotiate what your account will have - for example same price for half the space and double the bandwidth if this is what you require.
Things do go wrong with the server but nothing major has happened for a while. Any minor problems are sorted out as soon as they can be. There was a problem a couple of years ago where the data centre where the server were held got corrupted or went out of action or something resulting in my site being down for 3 days - but this was not the fault of valcato and it was sorted ASAP.
Their price isn't the cheapest around - but for what they offer I can't find anybody with better pricing. If you want minimal space for like 3 pages and a few photos about you then maybe valcato isn't for you as there are cheaper places - but for the average user who wants to host a real website then Valcato offer good value for money.
Overall I'd say theyre friendly people, have good service, good value for money and only minor flaws. I'm confident enough with them to host all of my sites with them - both personal and business. I have been with them for 3 years now and can't see any reason to change to anybody else.

I've never experienced more than 10mins of downtime in more than 2years of service. They don't bother you when you don't want bothering,but if you want help, they're always there to serve. Prices are more than competitive, but its the service that really shines. You feel like a valued customer, rather then just another punter.

Customer Support is very helpful, and very quick with responses, unlike alot of hosts i've been with, pricing is practically unbeatable and definitely would recommend this to others.
WOW. I rarely have a problem with this hosting, however I had one which was something I did, not them. I recieved a reply with in minutes, and got the whole issue resolved right away with email tech support. Thanks Valcato, you rock :)
I have been a customer with ValcatoHosting.com for over 3 years now and have found their service to be superb. Over this time their 24/7 support has been simply the best offering both full phone, email, and web site forum support. They have a professional friendly attitude which makes you feel your web service is being handled with great care and assurance. As far as rates ValcatoHosting can't be beat. About half a year ago, I switched my hosting company from Brinkster to ValcatoHosting. Their system is very well set up. Customer support is excellent, except for a few minor bugs in their ticketing system. Their pricing is also very reasonable. The only small thing I have to complain about is their uptime. Sometimes their server is offline for hours on end. Other than that, the company is very good and I would recommend it to my friends.
I've been with this hosting company for a long time now, and there's 99% uptime. The few times they have downtime, they have it quickly running again. They also have EXCELLENT customer service. I've been on MSN with the CEO himself sometimes because of some issues with my site(s). I've also gotten help late at night, even in the weekends, and they're all happy to help out! Excellent prices, excellent customer service, all over just awesome! I highly recommend ValcatoHosting =)
I added a review for Valcato about 6 months ago (ref. December 29th 2004) and have decided to comment again. I would still ditto pretty much everything I said in my previous review - uptime, speed, reliability, except for the customer service. Since a new member (J!) joined the Valcato team customer support/service has been excellent. Their ticketing system now runs (dare I say?) like clockwork, and improvements in general are being made on a frequent basis. One of their latest 'community' moves was suggested by a user - a link database where webmasters hosted at Valcato can add their site.
Another technical advantage of being hosted with Valcato is the server configuration. I have tried another host where script installation became a huge hassle; whereas it has Always been smooth going with Valcato.
If anyone is in any doubt, I would recommend visiting the Valcato forums where you can post questions etc. or just read it all anonymously (its always good to see what existing users say about their host) I will definitely be staying with Valcato for a very long time.
What can I say? They're an amazing host, esp. considering the amount of money it costs you.
Normally you'd associate something being cheap having bad service, no uptime etc. Well, the service is excellent, they (might) take a day or two to get back but when they do it's in depth and very simple to unterstand. As for uptime - my website is yet to go down.
Wow! I just switched from Brinkster to Valcato hosting, and Valcato is so much better. They have an excellent service and support site and their prices are extermely good. I haven't had any downtime at all. Their control panel is also extremely well thought out and organized. You can make configuration changes to almost anything quickly and easily.
Whilst some of the comments below WERE valid, ValcatoHosting has made massive improvements in their service of late;
A new Customer Support site has been opened at valcatosupport.com which will remain offline even if their new DUAL XEON server experiences downtime.
Response times on technical support tickets are improving; many are now being answered within half an hour!
Valcato has had an unfair share of problems over the year, but it would be unfair to hold previous bad experiences against them - they are in a completely different situation to this time last year.
I highly recommend this host, and I have!
It seems my previous review was deleted. Having been hosted with Valcato for more than a year I can say it was, and still is a great experience. They switched to new data centres a while back and the difference it has made is amazing - we are all now one central server. I cannot complain about the uptime nor site load speed. So in terms of reliability I give it a 5/5. Pricing is also VERY competitive. I Can definitely say that it would be difficult to find an equivalent host at the same price that has been running for this long, and you would be hard-pressed (ref: uptime) One down side is that recently, customer support has been somewhat lacking. I have submitted a few tickets that have not been responded to - luckily they are not urgent - merely inquiries on the status of the site and possible increases in my allocated space.
The server is down frequently and the customer support takes days if not weeks to respond if they respond at all. It's a pretty cheap host but you get what you pay for.
We have made massive improvements to our hosting service and our customer support. Server uptime is almost 100% and response times for support tickets are now well within our stated targets.
The constant sudden loss of PHP ability, resulting in Internal Server errors, is bad enough. What compounds the situation is the fact there is never any explanation as to why these events occur.
I would say they are suitable (I use the term loosely) for sites where uptime is not a critical issue. However, if it is an issue, then look elsewhere, without a doubt.
The PHP problems stated occured once, and they were due to a kernel update on our system, performed by a member of our NOC staff. Upon noticing the fault, we managed to patch the system and fix the problem within the hour.
This is not a fair or accurate review, and the reviewer wishing to remain annonymous goes some way toward proving this.
Lots of downtime, they change settings and do not inform there customers, you have to find out yourself, and now my site is down for at least 3 days, and even there own site is down. And no response whatsoever...
PHPSuexec was installed to increase security (basically meaning all files with permissions set to 777 needed changing to 755 to run).
