I was a customer with easycgi for many years (as well as a reseller), when i started receiving notices that some domains were due for renewal i did the logical thing and tried to navigate to the renewals page, but wait... it didn't exist? they had somehow deleted that page so i notified them via email & support ticket only to have them tell me it was a fault at my end, like every single computer & browser i checked all had the same fault.
eventually they told me they would fix it and i should check back in a week (when my domains were about to expire). a week went by, i checked back, the page was up "hooray" i thought, but no. the renew button refused to function. it was there, almost like an image left to taunt me that i was about to lose my domains to the abyss. i also noticed i wasn't able to change any DNS or other details (admin, tech contacts, etc).
i opened more support tickets & sent more emails, eventually i got my domain renewed, but boy was it a headache. i started transferring all my domains away from easycgi apart from one which had been registered less than 30 days before, i also cancelled my hosting account. keeping in mind that as soon as possible i had to transfer that last domain away - of course it slipped my mind.
little did i know, during the cancellation of my hosting/reseller account easycgi's team had taken it upon themselves to... change all my admin/tech/contact information to something i knew nothing about. so when the domain came up for renewal again this year, guess what, i wasn't notified and i lost my site & email for days, then was told it was my fault the info was wrong and i had to pay easycgi $170USD to get my domain back or i would lose it to the highest bidder. after THEY changed my information without my permission.
there has got to be some law against this sort of extortion, if it's illegal for the mafia, then it should be illegal for easycgi!
if anyone wants to launch a class-action suit against easycgi, count me in. worst host in the history of the internet. NEVER use easycgi.
similar to those above. slow, uncaring customer support. they lost my entire database (and overwrote it with someone elses, who's i could see bright as day.. and they didn't seem to care). i've seen alot of webhosts in 10+ yrs of doing websites, but this by far was the worst experience ever. complete loss of database.. and an oh sorry. too bad.. sort of response from customer service.
The hosting was OK until the Sept/October/November 2008 migration to a new server structure. My site is non-profit so the primary impact was inconvenience for my viewers and 10 days of extra work for me. Search on \"EasyCGI migration\", \"EasyCGI problems\", \"EasyCGI Sucks\", etc. top see reports by dozens of businesses that have lost business as their sites were down for days or weeks. It was best example of poor planning I have seen in many years.
It seems like Linux people are trying to run a Windows server (for example log files are now zipped into \".gz\" format rather than \".zip\"! Even worse, the daily archived log file names are now all identical, (my userid)! Their response to a request to fix this is \"it\'s that way because of a software change. Sorry for any inconvenience.\" This is one example out of 5 major changes in my site that broke existing sytems or required days of effort on my part to fix, all without any prior notice. Never again! I\'m searching for new host now.
For the past few years, I have hosted my site with EasyCGI. However, on Nov 18, 2008, my site was \"migrated\" to a new server as part of their \"upgrade process\". This caused my site to collapse. First, the site wouldn\'t send mail, then the pages could no longer connect to the database. I opened two \"trouble tickets\" about these issues and the only replies I received were \"we\'ll have someone get back to you within 24-48 hours\". Does this really mean that no one will even talk to me for TWO DAYS (48 hours)?? Meanwhile, as my site continues to be down while someone \"gets back to me\", customers can\'t purchase products from me, I can\'t make any sales, and I can\'t earn an income!
Yes, websites can go down sometimes, but I am completely dissatisfied with their total lack of support. No one replied to my trouble ticket for two days, even when I kept asking when the site would be fixed. No one bothered to even give me any advice on how to fix my site\'s code to work on their new servers.
I have moved my site to another hosting company... if I hadn\'t, who knows how long my site would have been down of if EasyCGI\'s techs would have even replied to me.
Just took over as web master. The migrations has cause lots of problems for most of the sites hosted on EasyCGI. The FTP servers are slow, customer service is useless, and level 2 is slow to respond to outages.
MylittleAdmin for MS SQL is not correctly.
I would not recommend hosting with EasyCgi. I recommend changing the name from EasyCgi to HardCgi.
I wait amd wait and wait for their support.
The new record now is 1 week that my server is down and not working my store, can you belive it ONE WEEK down, and they not fix it.
They lost my backup files, after my upgrade, and can not even go back and restore my server.
Well as I have say, is a ship with out capten.
If you buy somthing on easyCGI, then pray to god to not have any problems, or else no one is there to help you, and answer machines rules ! almost all the time answer machines answer to my calls.
if they not fix the poor support that they have, I think that they close down.
